For those that don't already know, I've been busy rewriting FLAME again. For the first time since I started writing it two years ago, I'm actually really happy with how it's going. I really don't think this draft will be trashed as the last two have, which means you should have the book in your hands sometime in the coming year. That makes me so happy, you have no idea.
Since I'm making so much progress, I opted to continue working on the story for NaNoWriMo. On day three, I'm a little over the NaNo goal word count, with 5,428 words. That brings me to a grand total of over 30k in the story thus far. If I continue in this direction, FLAME will be completed by the end of the month. So. Fucking. Exciting!
Here's a little unedited teaser. You probably won't see too many more teasers from the story, as it's almost impossible to pick one that doesn't spoil something important, so enjoy! <3
My eyes popped open to find him on his back halfway underneath me, one arm thrown over his eyes, the other wrapped around my waist, holding me to him. A grimace contorted his face, and sweat dripped down his brow. His legs twitched beneath me, shifting back and forth as if he were trying to run. His heart hammered, the pulse in his throat pounding.
Geri growled and snarled, the sounds reaching me even through the walls Dace had once again thrown up between us. Freki stirred restlessly, ill at ease to find her mate so worked up over a threat neither of us could see nor feel.
He was having a nightmare. A bad one, from the looks of it.
"Please run," he mumbled. "Please."
My heart broke at the fragile plea.
"Dace." I put my hand on his jaw.
His body jerked beneath mine, his eyes flying open. For a minute, fear and panic swamped his expression, pure terror blotting out the brilliant green color of his eyes. And then he blinked.
In a move so fast, I didn't see it coming, I was on my back and he was on me, his body caging me in. His lips crashed against mine.
