Series: The Wilde Sisters #1
Release Date: January 26, 2016
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
|| SYNOPSIS ||
An extravagant cake design brings small town baker Trent Kipson to fame…

After gaining social media exposure of his culinary art, Trent’s cake design goes viral. Soon he’s contacted by the Cooking Network to host a new show in California. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for the owner of a modest shop in Portland, Maine, and the financial freedom the network offers could be the answer to all of his monetary problems.

Fitness instructor Rayne Wilde wants the life every small-town girl dreams of…

Rayne wishes for a future full of romance and the pitter-patter of little feet. She wants it all, including a white picket fence and a dog named Spot—which is exactly why she refuses to sleep with Trent, the sexy man who attends her Zumba classes. After a series of dead-end relationships, this time she really is in love. Trent is special, and the fear of letting him slip through her fingers keeps her advances at bay.

Life is waiting—all it takes is a leap of faith...

As their friendship grows and skeletons creep out of their closets, their relationship is put to the test. Stakes get higher, and the spark between them burns hotter than ever before.

Can they handle the heat when life-changing secrets are exposed, or will the fear of being burned send them on two different paths?

|| ABOUT THE AUTHOR ||

Marianne Rice writes contemporary romances set in small New England towns. Her heroes are big and strong, yet value family and humor, while her heroines are smart, sexy, sometimes a little bit sassy, and are often battling a strong internal conflict. Together, they deal with real life issues and always, always, find everlasting love. When she’s not writing, Marianne spends her time buying shoes, eating chocolate, chauffeuring her herd of children to their varying sporting events, and when there’s time, cuddling with her husband, a drink in one hand, a romance book in the other.

Title: Without You
Author: Lindsay Detwiler
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: December 1, 2015  Publisher: Limitless Publishing

On the surface, Jenna Landsen has it all…

She’s smart, beautiful, confident, and married to Camden Landsen, who happens to be drop dead sexy and just as successful. But after five long years, all the success in the world hasn’t brought the romantic spark back into her marriage. Jenna fears it never will.

When life gives you lemons, open a bakery and name it Vi’s…

Violet Streiff made the exact mistake her mother warned against—she fell in love with Liam Coffman, a charming finance major. When he left her heartbroken to further his career, Violet drowned her sorrows by opening a bakery, and now relies on Bob, her eighteen-pound cat, for warmth at night instead of a sexy man.

To find love, sometimes you first have to discover yourself…

When Jenna’s job offers an extended trip to New York, she packs her bags and takes a two-month vacation from life. The chance of her marriage surviving looks grim, until the surprise of a lifetime throws a wrench in her plans to stay in the Big Apple for good.

You can bend the rules—but sooner or later they’ll break…

When Violet meets a gloomy but totally drool-worthy guy named Camden in her shop, she’s sure her luck has changed. There’s no denying the chemistry, but he’s married, and that’s a major problem. Violet isn’t a homewrecker. Still, staying away from Camden proves nearly impossible. That is, until his wife comes home.

Two women.
Two men.
Double the chance to find love in the most

unexpected places—or double the chance for disaster.

Chapter Four
Violet
“Earth to Vi, Vi, are you in there? Did you hear me? I said he’s here,” Margaret pleads, pulling on the arm I’ve been leaning on behind the register. The slowness of our day and low coffee sales led me into daydreaming world. Margaret pulls me out with her tugging.
“What?” I sleepily reply, tucking a loose curl behind my ear. “Who?” I scan the room. Just then, he strolls through the door. Oh, hell no. Not on a Monday.
“I tried to warn you,” Margaret hisses, heading back to the storeroom to get some more scones. Great. As if today isn’t dreary enough.
“Hi, welcome to Vi’s,” I exuberantly cheer, faking my enthusiasm.
“Vi, Violet, Vi-o-let, how are ya? Happy Monday,” he explodes, the senseless chatter rolling off his tongue as he pats the sweat off his balding forehead.
“What do you recommend today, sweetie?”
For starters, I recommend you stuff your nasty, flirtatious pet names, I think between gritted teeth. Instead I say, “Oh, I don’t know, how about a triple chocolate muffin?”
“Sounds great, muffin. So…are you busy tonight?”
Yep, and every night for the rest of my life.
“Um, oh, yeah, Chuck, sorry. Crazy busy tonight.”
Doing nothing. Watching Family Feud reruns and eating cookie dough. And watching my plants grow. Even though I don’t have any plants.
“Oh, that’s too bad, Vi. But you know, you can’t turn me down forever. Good ol’ Chuck can’t wait to take that sweet bottom of yours out on another date. It’s gonna be great and you know it. But I’m patient. I can wait.” He winks at me so robotically I would laugh if I didn’t know he was serious.
I smile through my disgust, trying to quell the vomit rising in my throat. “Four ninety-eight,” I offer methodically. He hands me a five.
“Keep the change.” He winks again as I pass him his paper sack. He brushes my fingers purposefully, sending a shiver down my spine. Not a good shiver in any sense of the word. And with that, my weekly Chuck encounter is over. Thank God I can check it off the list. Root canal or Chuck—I’d choose root canal. Five times.
“Is he gone?” Margaret ventures out of hiding.
“For now,” I reply, grimacing at the icky feeling left over from Chuck’s brief yet highly distressing presence.
“If I were you, I’d kill your mother over him.”
“Oh, I’ve thought about it,” I admit
And I truly mean it.
When you’re twenty-six and heartbroken, people tend to pity you. When you’ve been alone for a year and have no hopeful prospects in sight, people want to take action to help you. So my mom decided last month to act on this fear. One night, she called and informed me she set me up on a blind date.
“Violet, come on—it’ll be great. You can’t mope around those books and coffee beans forever. You’re turning into a crazy cat lady already,” she replied to my immediate no.
“Owning a single cat does not make one a crazy cat lady, Mom.”
“Oh, you know what I mean.”
“No, I don’t,” I replied matter-of-factly.
“Vi, it’s not healthy. You need to get back out there. So, do this. For me, please? Think of it this way, at least you’ll get a free dinner.” When did Mom become such a proponent of love? When did she decide men were, in fact, worth it after all? And when did it become such a priority to find me one?
Nonetheless, the offer of free dinner helped make it easier to give in. So I agreed to go on a blind date to the Pasta Palace with a friend of one of my mom’s cousin’s friend’s older brothers. Yeah, sounds promising, I know.
Three milliseconds into the date, I tugged on my turquoise dress anxiously, tapping my ballet flats together hoping, like Dorothy, I could magically be transported home. Or to the local dump. Or to hell.
Anywhere but a date with sweaty, bald, creepy Chuck.
As soon as I could scarf down my chicken parmesan and make a decently sound excuse to leave early—my black cat Bob had a cough, and I better get home to check on him—I made a faster getaway than a bank robber and vowed two things. One, I would kill or at least strangle my mother. Two, I would never, ever, ever go on another blind date. Ever.
I stuck to promise two on my list. Promise one on my list was becoming more likely because Chuck found out I owned Vi’s. He decided to start visiting my coffee shop.
Every week.
Despite my obvious hints I wasn’t into him. Yeah, the guy was persistent.
“Well, Vi, maybe you’re being too hard on him,” my mom argued when I called her after the first impromptu visit.
“Really, Mom? Have you seen him? He’s at least twice my age and he must use at least two sticks of deodorant a day. I mean, really.”
“Well, Vi, maybe you’re being too picky. You’re not getting any younger, you know.”
“Wow, Mom. Thanks a million. While I greatly ‘appreciate’ your kind efforts to pair me up before I become an old spinster, I think I draw the line at, I don’t know, excessive sweat and gross innuendos. Thanks but no thanks,” I retorted, sarcasm oozing out of my words.
I was met with a humph and an end of discussion. My mother hates admitting I’m right.
So, now I am left with two unfortunate facts in my life.
Mondays are creepy Chuck day, and even my mother thinks I’m getting desperate in the man department.
Oh, life is grand.

I am a high school English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink. I am truly the English teacher cliché; I love cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe. I currently live in my hometown with my husband Chad; our cats Arya, Amelia, Alice, Bob, and Marjorie; and our Mastiff Henry.

As the author of two novels, Voice of Innocence and Without You, I have many inspirations in my life as a writer. My parents instilled in me a value for education and reading from the time I could talk. One of my earliest memories is sitting with my parents as they taught me to sound out words. My husband has also inspired me to pursue my dream of writing. I met Chad in an art class when we were only twelve. He has shown me that love is real, is enduring, and is our most important ally in this sometimes harsh world. He has supported me through this entire process, believing in my writing even before I believed in it myself.

My hope is that by becoming a published author, I can inspire some of my students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. I want them to see that any dream can be attained, and publishing a novel isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Cecilia Murray has been wishing for a dog for as long as she can remember. But when a cute little pug is brought in to Orphan Paws, the shelter where she volunteers, she knows Potato is the dog she’s been waiting for.

There’s just one problem—Eric Chung (class president, captain of the basketball team, and all around Mr. Perfect) has already adopted Potato. And what’s worse, he plans to turn her precious little tater into a show dog. Cecilia vows to rescue the little guy from a life of sparkly collars and snobby judges. First, she has to “help” Eric train Potato. The trouble is, the more time she spends with Eric, the harder it is to remember her mission. For Cecilia, it’s puppy love for sure…but maybe Potato’s not the only one who’s stolen her heart.

NINE LIVES by Erin Lee
Standalone Novel
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
Cover Designer: Wicked by Design
|| SYNOPSIS ||
Three teenage sisters didn’t mean to destroy their family…

Sisters Laina, Faith, and Sadie Nelson know they are to blame. There was no way to predict how their lives would shatter with just a few lies—but they did, and now they fear the pieces are too many to pick up.

Had their parents let them leave, their father wouldn’t be behind bars…

The girls just wanted to escape from their hyper-strict home and start lives of their own. If he’d just allowed them to spread their wings, their father wouldn’t be serving thirty years for a crime he didn’t commit.

Sometimes you have to be creative to get your way, but creativity’s not always what it’s cracked up to be…

With the lives of nine siblings hanging in the balance, what will it take for the girls to admit their deceit and recant their tales of abuse? And if they do, will there be any room for forgiveness?

Family and friends are left to question everything they know about the legal system, social services, marriage, and family.

Can anyone really be trusted?
Can a family heal in the wake of false allegations, broken promises, and betrayal?

The New Author's Guide to Book Releases #writing #writingtips

1/21/2016

Publishing can be overwhelming, especially if it's your first time. Between writing, editing, marketing and all of the fun stuff in between, figuring out where you need to start is tough! The Newbie's Guide to Publishing is an on-going blog series in which authors share their knowledge of the process.

After spending some time explaining the basics of release day festivities to friends, I thought now would be a good time to share those explanations and tips on everything from blitzes to swag. You'll hear these terms a lot, and will utilize them yourself as you go along. Below you'll find a little explanation of each, as well as associated hints and tips you might find useful.

Cover Reveal – A day in which you share your shiny new cover with the world. Like blitzes and tours, these are a great time to get bloggers involved, as they can increase your reach and the visibility of your book. If your book is available for pre-order, including the pre-order links during cover reveals can be really helpful in boosting sales. That said, if you won't have pre-order links available until a few days before release, you should probably consider going ahead and scheduling your cover reveal so you don't run the risk of oversaturating bloggers with your tours really close to release day.

Blitz – A preset day (or days) in which bloggers post about your book or sale. The most common of these are the release day blitz and the sale blitz. During a release blitz, bloggers will share your newly released book. During a sale blitz, bloggers share your book sale with their readers. You can set these up yourself, or use a service.

Blog Tour – A virtual book tour, in which bloggers share your book with their readers. Blog tours frequently include author interviews, excerpts, teasers, guest posts from the author, reviews of your book, and giveaways. As with blitzes, you can set these services up through a promotion/host company.

Review Tour – Similar to the blog tour, except used primarily for bloggers to review your novel. Reviewers receive an ARC (advanced reader copy) in exchange for an honest review. Some authors request that reviews be posted to Amazon and Goodreads as well as the blogger's website. These can be set up with a promotion/host company.

Pro-tip on Blitzes/Tours/Reveals: Using an established host will heighten your reach, and take some of the work load off of your shoulders. Hosts will do everything from gathering participants to creating forms and formatted posts to designing the media kit to organizing the schedule. They are invaluable to you as an author. Using more than one can help widen your reach, though you might want to space them out a little instead of running tours concurrently.

Media Kit – A media kit is a document that contains pertinent information that can be used to highlight your work. These kits include things such as the cover, book blurb, purchase and Goodread links, teasers/excerpts, author photo and bio (with social media links), guest posts, etc. These differ from the traditional media kit in that these don't go out to the media, but rather to bloggers and reviewers to help them craft promo and blog tour posts.

Pro-Tip on Media Kits: Keeping a media kit on hand and updated for each of your novels can save you a lot of time and effort. You will reuse these often during the course of your career, and don't want to have to spend a lot of time redoing them each and every time you need it. For a standard media kit, include the cover, book blurb, purchase and Goodreads links, author photo and bio (with social media links), and a brief teaser and/or teaser images.

Giveaways – These are exactly what they sound like…you give away prizes. Giveaways are also invaluable. They draw in participants, putting your name and books in front of others. Need help with the giveaway? Ask fellow authors if they are willing to donate a prize in exchange for the exposure. If you use a tool like Rafflecopter to organize your giveaway, you can add options such as requiring entrants to follow other authors on Twitter or visit them on Facebook. Smaller giveaways work well for cover reveals and blitzes, larger giveaways for blog tours and multi-author events. You may also want to utilize the Goodreads Giveaway option prior to or at the time of your book release. Just remember: Goodreads requires that you give away print copies, not ebooks!

Pro-Tip on Giveaways: Don't give away ebook copies of the novel you're releasing. You run the risk of stunting your sales if you do, as readers may wait to see if they won instead of buying a copy. Give away a limited number of autographed print copies during a giveaway (if you opt to give away any), or opt for things like swag, other ebooks, gift cards, or items related to the book. For bigger giveaways, things like a Kindle or a $50 Amazon card are always big hits.

Facebook Parties – These are virtual events, held on Facebook, often used to celebrate new releases or special occasions (like 1000 fan page likes). You create an event page, and host the event right there on the page. You can offer teasers, excerpts, play games and give away prizes. For longer events, you can ask fellow authors to help host for a specific time frame (typically 30 minutes to an hour) in an author takeover type of party. These are a fun way to get readers involved, especially those who can't attend an in-person book launch party.

Book Launch Party – A live event to help celebrate your release. These events can be set up at book stores, local pubs, Starbucks... you decide what and where works best for you and your readers and reach out to local businesses to see who's interested. You can do book signings, readings, and more as part of a Book Launch Party. Just remember to plan ahead, make sure you bring plenty of swag and books, and are prepared to keep guests entertained. You may also want to consider investing in author banners or posters to help promote the event and draw eyes.

Pro-Tip on Parties: Don't save your planning until the last moment. Give yourself several weeks to invite your readers, fellow authors, and to make plans for what to do during the party. If fellow authors are helping you host, make sure you remind them of their time slot prior to the party so you can make last minute adjustments if needed to accommodate changing schedules. Except readers to come and go in waves, especially during longer events.

Swag – Items used to promote your book such as bookmarks, pens, wristbands, etc. Most often, you will give these items away to others. Swag can be costly, so be prepared to spend a little money on these items. You can order from places such as Vistaprint, Printrunner, or Reminderband. You can also order items unique to your book (like charm bracelets, etc) from various Etsy crafters, such as The Book Swag Shop. If you need help with designing items, many cover and graphic artists can help. I use Jada D'Lee and Mayhem Cover Creations for most graphics. Ask around for additional recommendations. Your graphic artists can also help with teaser images to post on social media or during tours/etc.

Excerpt One:

The thrill of the game winded down. People broke away in groups of two and three. I wanted to call it a night and see if any beer was left.
“I challenge you, Sydney, to a game of Truth or Dare,” Jason declared.
I sunk into the sofa and glared at him with my mouth agape. “Are you serious?”
Of course now is when he decides to say my name correctly.
He nodded, flashing a wicked grin.
I swallowed. My throat was too dry. I didn’t want to play. I didn’t want to admit truths to a bunch of weirdos. I guess most were drunk, so they wouldn’t remember, but it was the principle of the thing.
“Do you accept?” a boy wearing black jeans and no shirt asked.
The pressure of everyone’s eyes on me was too much. I sighed. “I guess.”
“Good. We got another game, people!” the boy shouted with excitement.

Excerpt Two:

“I can show you some tips. Been surfing all my life,” he said proudly.
“Yes,” Amelia said excitedly, dragging the poor boy to the ocean.
Rolling my eyes, I turned toward the other boy. He was tall, but not über tall, like the other guy. His muscles moved like liquid as he approached me. I had the urge to touch his abs and see if they were as firm as they appeared. His hair was tussled and golden brown, as if sun kissed. His board was a light blue with black stripes. It was a good brand, but a basic print.
“Do you need surfing lessons too or are you here in support?” the boy asked me. His silver eyes mirrored the moon, sending shivers down my shine.
“Umm…I was wanting to be surfing…”
What the hell did I just say?
His eyes sparkled with laughter, but he didn’t mock me. “I can teach you some tricks if you want.”
I looked at him closer. My stomach fell to the sand. He was the guy I bumped into at that club and he didn’t bother giving me a second look. He kept walking as if I was just another body in the crowd, no one worthy of his attention.
“Were you at Club Purple last night?” I asked.
He tilted his head. “Yes, how did you know?”
“I ran into you and we kept going the same way and then—”
“Oh, right,” he said, nodding as if it all made sense.
Excerpt Three:

“Wait,” he pulled away from me so he could look me square in the eye, “Who said anything about having sex?”
“It’s fine. I know the unspoken rule. The guy is all sweet and cooks for the girl and she gives him entry into her.”
He closed his eyes and ran a hand through his hair. His words were jumbled together as he muttered to himself. I stared at him, wondering why he was upset.
“Damn it, Sydney! Why do you chalk every damn thing up to sex? Life isn’t all about fucking. Sometimes people are just being nice. I didn’t expect anything from you tonight.”
“I assumed…” I mumbled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Don’t…at least not with me. Last time was a mistake—”
I fought back my tears. “I didn’t know…I mean I’m sorry I didn’t please you.”
“No, you did.” He leaned in close, brushing the back of his hand down my cheek. “Listen to me. It was too fast. I got caught up in the heat of the moment. You’re a sexy woman and I loved what we did, but usually I wait until the third date before sleeping with a girl.”
Out of habit, I put space between us, enough room for another person to sit in-between. “Why wait?” It was a foreign concept to me.
He stood and paced the length of the couch. “I wait to see if I like the person. Get to know her, see if I can imagine her in my future. Not as a wife or anything, just as someone that would last a lot longer than a one-night stand. I see if I could fall in love with her. If I had sex with every woman, then it would become mundane and meaningless.”
“But I don’t believe in love. That’s why I—”

    He started slow
    innocuous brushes
    of his fingers
    against her soft flesh.
    Her shoulders.
    Her arms.
    Her neck.
    His simple touches
    and soft whispers
    wrecked her.
